The prediction market FAZ.NET-Orakel, a cooperation of the IISM, FZI, IW Köln and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, demonstrated the potentials of prediction markets during the Germany Federal Elections 2017. The FAZ.NET-Orakel is running and predicting several issues since March 2017. In comparison to renowned opinion research institutes, the forecasting error of the FAZ.NET-Orakel were all the time lower or at least among the best third of the forecasters (see figure below).
