  • We are pleased to welcome Levi Reyes Premer from Purdue University's Herrick Laboratories as a visiting researcher at the Chair of Information & Market Engineering from late June to August 2025.

Levi is a Mechanical Engineering PhD student co-advised by Prof. Kevin Kircher and Prof. Davide Ziviani at Purdue. He earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 2023 and has been with the Herrick Laboratories group since summer 2023. As a direct PhD student, he recently earned his MS in Mechanical Engineering in 2025. His research specializes in applying advanced control strategies to distributed energy resources in residential communities to enhance home resiliency and municipal grid robustness.

During his stay, Levi is collaborating with our Smart Grids and Energy Markets Research group on modeling thermal dynamics of European building stock and bringing price guarantees for dynamic tariffs to the field. His work focuses on smart heat pump and water heater operation strategies, as well as modeling thermal building dynamics.

Beyond his research contributions, Levi has already integrated well with our team, joining the Smart Grids and Energy Markets Group for a weekend hiking trip through the German Mangfallgebirge (depicted in the picture).
