Join us at “Tage der Demokratie” (Days of Democracy) on September 17-20

  • Date: 15.09.2025
  • On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy on September 15, the Triangel warmly invites you – now for the fourth year in a row – to join our Days of Democracy. Together, we want to work to keep democracy alive, stand up for democratic values, get involved, and have our say. From September 18 to 20, we are creating many opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss, and participate.

You can expect a varied program including participation formats, art, music, panel discussions, neighborhood initiatives, and much more. Refreshing drinks and delicious regional food will be available at the adjacent intro CAFÉ.

Be there – a resilient democracy needs you!

We are contributing with two events:

“Your Feed, Your Democracy” – How media consumption influences trust in democratic institutions, and how we can use that

    September 17, 2025, 12:30 p.m. at TRIANGEL Transfer | Culture | Space

Get your portion of MuT (Human and Technology) for the future – served as a “Brain Bite” during lunch break. MuT2Go is a short, informative format on Wednesdays during the TRIANGEL Community Days. Experts from the network of the KIT Center Humans and Technology (MuT) present a monthly key topic, discuss it, and answer your questions – engaging, entertaining, and with pop culture references. The pilot edition kicks off with “Your Feed, Your Democracy” with Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt.

Defending Democracy Together – Locally and in the Digital Space | Afterwork

    September 19, 2025, 3:30–6:00 p.m. at TRIANGEL Transfer | Culture | Space

Authoritarian tendencies are on the rise worldwide – and they are deliberately exploiting digital technologies: through disinformation on social media, deceptively realistic deepfakes, or the takeover of entire communication platforms such as Twitter. These developments undermine trust in democratic institutions and divide society.

To make democracies resilient against these attacks, we need technical solutions, such as democratic and transparent digital infrastructures. But we also need an informed, media-savvy public, along with participation and inclusion of individuals in society. How can we achieve this? What responsibilities lie with civil society, science, politics, and business – and how can they work together?

Prof. Christof Weinhardt will give a keynote lecture offering insights into his ongoing research projects on social polarization and disinformation, and he will present digital tools that counteract digital threats. In the following workshop, we will jointly develop concrete ideas and courses of action to make democracy more resilient – in the digital space as well as locally:

    • -What can digital tools achieve, and what can’t they?
    • -How do we promote critical media literacy – individually and structurally?
    • -What local initiatives are needed so that people trust democratic institutions and feel included? Where is the state responsible, and where civil society?

    Join the discussion with us!
