  • Date: 25.04.2025
  • Leo Semmelmann successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Dynamic Tariff Adoption in Electricity Markets: Bridging Policy, Technology and Behavior“ on April 17th 2025. His research offers valuable insights into the role of dynamic tariffs as a key mechanism for demand response in electricity markets. He empirically examines the impact of self-consumption battery energy storage system regulation on the power system, introduces novel approaches to reduce uncertainty in heat pump loads, and proposes innovative guarantee schemes to overcome household reluctance toward adopting dynamic tariffs, as well as the impact of dynamic tariffs on grid infrastructure.

He convinced the examination committee Prof. Dr. Wolf Fichtner, Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt,  Prof. Dr. Clemens van Dinther and Prof. Dr. Andreas Geyer-Schulz with his research. We congratulate Leo for his successful defense!
